Cambodia's Techo International Airport Named Among World's Most Beautiful Airports for 2026

PHNOM PENH, June 16, 2026 – Cambodia's Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh has been named among the world's most beautiful airports for 2026 by the prestigious Prix Versailles, placing the Kingdom alongside global architectural icons.
The newly opened airport is one of seven projects selected from around the world, joining Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (China), Frankfurt Airport (Germany), Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport (India), Navi Mumbai International Airport (India), Pittsburgh International Airport (United States), and San Diego International Airport (United States).
Designed by Foster + Partners, Techo International Airport features an overarching roof canopy that prioritises short walking distances and simple orientation. The modular roof's undulating form crescendos at the centre of the building, echoing Cambodia's spectacular palaces and temples. Interior ceilings are inspired by traditional basket weaving, appearing woven from bamboo and rattan, while reducing the need for mechanical ventilation and artificial lighting during the day. Native rumduol trees, a national symbol of Cambodia, follow the passenger journey through the terminal.
According to Prix Versailles Secretary General Jérôme Gouadain, the shortlist comprises "innovative, inescapable hallmarks of their regions and their eras." In December, three projects from the list will receive additional World Titles for Prix Versailles, Interior, or Exterior.
This recognition is a source of immense national pride, showcasing the Kingdom's commitment to world-class infrastructure, cultural identity, and sustainable design on the global stage.
