Cambodia Tops Global Land & Resource Sustainability Rankings

PHNOM PENH – May 21, 2026 – According to the 2026 Best Countries rankings by U.S. News & World Report, Cambodia has secured the top position globally for land and resource sustainability.
The Kingdom ranked first, followed by Slovenia (2nd), Paraguay (3rd), Latvia (4th), Croatia (5th), Laos (6th), Slovakia (7th), Ecuador (8th), Seychelles (9th), and Guatemala (10th).

In Southeast Asia, Cambodia also placed first, with Laos at 6th globally, Myanmar 16th, Thailand 45th, Malaysia 46th, the Philippines 71st, Vietnam 72nd, Indonesia 74th, and Singapore 91st.

The ranking evaluates countries based on carbon emissions, deforestation, protected areas, sustainable trade, and water stress. The category also contributes to the overall U.S. News Best Countries rankings and the Natural Environment category.
