Cambodia Prepares 'Village Francophone' for 20th Francophonie Summit

PHNOM PENH, June 12, 2026 – Cambodia is finalising preparations for the "Village Francophone" side event of the historic 20th Francophonie Summit, which is expected to welcome over 100,000 visitors and showcase the message that "The Cambodian Smile is the Francophonie Smile" to the world.
On June 11, H.E. Huot Hak, Minister of Tourism and Vice-Chairman of the National Committee for the 2026 Francophonie Summit, co-chaired a meeting on the event's preparations alongside H.E. Dr. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women's Affairs. The gathering included ambassadors from French-speaking countries, international partners, private sector representatives, and more than 100 participants.
H.E. Huot Hak emphasised that 2026 is a historic year for Cambodia as host of the 20th Francophonie Summit, a gathering of Heads of State and Government from more than 90 member countries of the International Organisation of La Francophonie (OIF). The Village Francophone will present the cultures, traditions, products, and services of member nations to world leaders and the public.
The five-day event will take place from November 13 to 17, 2026, at Wat Botum Park in Phnom Penh, featuring six key areas: National Pavilions, a Daily Cultural and Artistic Stage, Seminar and Discussion Spaces, a Gastronomic Village, a Cambodian Products Exhibition Area, and a Media Lounge. Two major side events will be organised alongside the Summit: the Village Francophone and FrancoTech.
