Cambodia Deports 2,847 Illegal Foreigners of 29 Nationalities in 11 Days

PHNOM PENH – June 2, 2026 – The General Department of Immigration has deported 2,847 illegal foreigners of 29 nationalities over an 11-day period from May 20 to May 31, 2026, following directives from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior H.E. Sar Sokha and guidance from H.E. Lieutenant General Sok Veasna, Director General of the General Department of Immigration.
Among those deported, 348 were women. The deportees included nationals from Uganda, Cameroon, Ghana, Liberia, Brazil, Pakistan, Nepal, Japan, the Philippines, Rwanda, Nigeria, Bangladesh, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Guinea, the United States, Taiwan (China), Singapore, India, Vietnam, Peru, Kenya, Zimbabwe, Laos, Russia, Korea, and Sri Lanka.
Of the total, 836 Chinese nationals involved in online scam operations were deported via special flights at Siem Reap Angkor International Airport and Techo International Airport. Additionally, 75 Myanmar nationals linked to online scams were deported through Techo International Border Police Post, and 282 Vietnamese nationals involved in online scams were deported through Phnom Den and Kaom Samnor international border checkpoints.

Other deportees were expelled for offenses including illegal border crossing, document forgery, staying without passports, extortion, using fake visas and QR codes, illegal employment, and other criminal activities.
The deportations reflect the Royal Government's firm legal measures under Prime Minister Hun Manet's leadership and the strong direction of Deputy Prime Minister Sar Sokha to crack down on online scam operations and other criminal activities. The government remains committed to protecting public safety and rescuing victims deceived into working for scam networks, ensuring their freedom and safe return to their home countries.
