SEOUL – June 3, 2026 – The Cambodian Embassy in the Republic of Korea and Soonchunhyang University Hospital (SUH) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure that Cambodian citizens living in Korea receive quality healthcare at affordable prices, while strengthening humanitarian cooperation between the two institutions.

The signing ceremony took place on June 2 at Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Seoul, with H.E. Khuon Phan Ratana, Cambodian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea, representing Cambodia.

The MOU aims to provide a framework for both institutions to continue working together as close neighbors and partners in humanitarian missions, serving the interests of Cambodian citizens both in Cambodia and in Korea.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Suh You-Sung, Director of Soonchunhyang University Hospital, noted that the hospital began its mission in Cambodia in 2002. Over the past 24 years, the hospital has contributed significantly to building healthcare infrastructure in Cambodia, including hospital construction, deployment of volunteer medical teams, training of Cambodian doctors, and providing scholarships to Cambodian students. He pledged to continue efforts to support Cambodia's healthcare sector, particularly in human resource development.

Ambassador Khuon Phan Ratana expressed gratitude to the Soonchunhyang family for their consistent participation with the embassy in numerous humanitarian activities both in Cambodia and Korea, including donating medicine and supplies to evacuees, orphanages, and hospitals in Cambodia, as well as providing free health checkups to Cambodian people in both countries. He expressed confidence that the MOU will enable both institutions to further strengthen cooperation on additional humanitarian projects.
