GENEVA – May 22, 2026 – Cambodian Minister of Health H.E. Professor Cheang Ra led a delegation to meet with Ms. Sylvia Murray, Fund Portfolio Manager at the Global Fund's Grant Management Division for the Asia Team, at the Global Fund headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, on May 20, 2026.
The bilateral meeting focused on reviewing progress in Cambodia's fight against HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria, with particular attention to financing challenges and sustainable strategies to ensure Cambodia can maintain achievements and move toward full elimination of the three diseases.
Minister Cheang Ra expressed deep gratitude to the Global Fund for its support over more than two decades, noting that this assistance has significantly contributed to reducing incidence and mortality rates of HIV, TB, and malaria, while strengthening grassroots health systems.

The Minister reaffirmed the Royal Government of Cambodia's commitment to continued investment in programs combating these three diseases in line with the Global Fund's strategy. He emphasized that continued active support from the Global Fund and multilateral development partners will ensure long-term effectiveness and sustainability of health system resilience.
In response, Ms. Murray commended Cambodia's commitment and achievements, recognizing the Kingdom as a model country in the Asia-Pacific region and globally for disease control. While acknowledging global financing challenges, she confirmed that the Global Fund will continue to support Cambodia through technical assistance to strengthen surveillance and response systems, coordination with new development partners, and support for community health system strengthening.
