Cambodia and EU Extend Technical Education Partnership to 2030
PHNOM PENH, June 15, 2026 – Cambodia and the European Union have reviewed plans to extend their partnership on technical education transformation for 2028-2030, following the success of the current EU-Cambodia Partnership for Educational Transformation (EU CAPET) 2024-2027.

On the morning of June 15, H.E. Hangchuon Naron, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education, Youth and Sport, chaired a meeting to review the additional support project under the EU-Cambodia partnership for enhancing technical education transformation for 2028-2030. The meeting was attended by H.E. Igor Driesmans, EU Ambassador to Cambodia, along with senior officials from the Ministry of Education and relevant departments.

Both sides recognized and highly appreciated the positive impacts achieved by the current project. The extended partnership will continue focusing on promoting STEM education, strengthening student and teacher capacity in STEM skills, training technical and vocational teachers, enhancing school-based coaching and mentoring programs, and providing scholarship programs.

On behalf of the Ministry of Education, H.E. Hangchuon Naron expressed deep gratitude to the European Union for its continued technical and financial support, which has contributed significantly to improving technical and vocational education and training (TVET), connecting education with the private sector, and promoting equity in access to education through scholarships.

The EU CAPET 2024-2027 program has become a catalyst in transforming technical education in Cambodia from theory-based to skills-based and practical learning, contributing to the development of highly skilled and productive human resources toward achieving Cambodia's Vision 2030 and 2050.
